Establishment & Goals
The KRG Ministry of Education was established in 1992 under the first cabinet. The main goal has been providing free and accessible education, reform, and continuous development of the educational system.
The official educational system in the Kurdistan Region is divided into main stages, which the e-Parwarda system organizes and monitors.
1. Kindergarten Stage
Ages 4 to 5. Prepares children to start formal K-12 education.
2. Basic Education Stage
9 years of continuous learning for ages 6 to 15.
3. Preparatory Stage
3 years duration. Divided into general academic and vocational sectors.
